Recently Bollywood has had a wide range of songs to offer of the Sufi genre. Sufism is a mystical tradition in Islam where the performer sings and dances with extreme soul and passion in order to express his love for Allah or The Almighty. Sufi music reflects positivity. It completely mesmerizes the audience and compels them to go into a state of trance. Many connoisseurs of music have a soft corner for Sufi music because of the magical effects Sufi music has on the mind and soul of a person. Roop Kumar Rathod delightfully agrees to the fact that he has a soft corner for Sufi music. He, along with his wife Sonali Rathod has sung many Sufi songs and together they have many music albums to their credit. Qawwali is a form of the Sufi genre of music which is present in Bollywood since a long time. In fact, today in Bollywood Sufi music is more prevalent than the Qawwali style of music unlike before. Though some of the Bollywood Sufi songs are sung in praise of the Lord, many of the lyricists have taken the liberty of changing the focus from the love for God to the love for another person.

Mitwa from Kal ho na ho is another track of the Sufi genre that is remarkable. Roop Kumar Rathod gave a heartfelt performance on Maula mere Maula from Anwar. Maula mere from Chak de India is also an extremely well composed track.

All these songs are very soulful. Listening to these Sufi songs brings in a lot of positive vibes. The Bollywood songs are not purely of the Sufi genre but amalgamated with other genres of music very intricately.
